South Canoe Wind Farm – GPS Truck Tracking Tool
October 6, 2014  -  7:00am

Today, Monday, October 6, is the first day of delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm
of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in Pictou County.  Today,  the  Nacelle  truck,  supported on 136 tires, is on its way from
Brooklyn,  carrying  the  first  turbine  nacelle  to  South  Canoe.   This  view  shows  the
loaded Nacelle truck departing from the old Bowater Mersey paper mill dock ("BM", seen
at the bottom of this image),  beginning  its  trip  to the  South  Canoe  Wind  Farm  site.

Today, Monday, October 6, is the first day of delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm
of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in Pictou County.  Today,  the  Nacelle  truck,  supported on 136 tires, is on its way from
Brooklyn,  carrying  the  first  turbine  nacelle  to  South  Canoe.   This  view  shows  the
loaded Nacelle truck departing from the old Bowater Mersey paper mill dock ("BM", seen
at the  bottom  of this image),  on  its  way  to  the  South  Canoe  Wind  Farm  site.  For
this  early  part  of the trip,  the  Nacelle  truck  with  its  large  and  heavy  load,  is  not
driving  on  Highway 3.  Instead, it is  driving  on  the  Wood Hauling Road,  a  narrow
gravel road where pilot vehicles (not shown on the GPS display) are deployed to
divert any oncoming traffic.  The Nacelle truck is taking this route to bypass
two difficult turns on Highway 3, in Brooklyn.  At the far end, the Wood
Hauling Road  meets  Highway 3  beyond  these two tight turns.

Today, Monday, October 6, is the first day of delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm
of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in  Pictou  County.  This  view shows a  convoy  of  four  large  trucks, carrying turbine
components, travelling  at speed  eastbound on Highway 103.  Leading the convoy is
Blade Truck 1, at this moment  approaching  Mahone Bay.  The Nacelle truck is next,
now approaching  Bridgewater.  Blade Trucks 2 and 3  are  close  together, with their
icons  overlapping  in  this  view.   The  convoy  is  escorted  by a variety  of  official
vehicles – police, the highways department has people especially interested in the
very heavy Nacelle truck as it goes over the bridge  high  above  Gold River, and
there are vehicles carrying representatives of the South Canoe Wind Project.

Today, Monday, October 6, is the first day of delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm
of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in Pictou County.    This  view shows a  convoy  of  four  large  trucks, carrying turbine
components,  at  the  time  when  the  lead  truck,  Blade Truck 1,  has  arrived  at the
South Canoe Project site and is turning southward toward the individual plot at which
this turbine  will  be  assembled.  Blade Truck 2, now ahead of the Nacelle truck, is
travelling  northward  on Highway 12  approaching New Ross.  The Nacelle truck
is stopped beside Highway 103, and Blade Truck 3 is at the end of the convoy.

of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in Pictou County.  Today, the Nacelle truck, supported on 136 tires, is on its way from
Brooklyn,  carrying  the  first  turbine  nacelle  to  South  Canoe.   This  view  shows
Blade 1 truck positioned, ready to be  unloaded  at the individual plot where this
turbine will be assembled.  Blade 2 truck is driving along Lake Lawson Road
near New Ross, as the Nacelle truck with its very heavy load approaches
the highway interchange at Blockhouse, connecting to Highway 324.

Today, Monday, October 6, is the first day of delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm
of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in Pictou County.  Today, the Nacelle truck, supported on 136 tires, is on its way from
Brooklyn, carrying  the  first  turbine  nacelle  to  South Canoe.   This view shows the
heavily-loaded  Nacelle  truck  stopped  –  indicated  by  the  due  north heading of
the truck's  icon  –  momentarily  at  Blockhouse,  at the  interchange connecting
to  Highway 324  going  southward  to  Lunenburg.   From  here,  the driver will
continue along the exit ramp eastward to Highway 103 toward Chester Basin.

Today, Monday, October 6, is the first day of delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm
of turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These
turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in Pictou County.  Today, as shown in this mid-afternoon view, the loaded Hub truck
has  arrived  at  South Canoe,  and  the  Nacelle  truck  is approaching along New
Russel Road.  Earlier, the Blade 1 and Blade 2 trucks arrived at South Canoe
and were unloaded, and now are on their way back to their home base.
The Tower Section 1 truck,  scheduled  to deliver a tower section
to South Canoe  tomorrow,  is  stopped  near  Enfield.

turbine components are coming from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool). 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the first day of delivery of tower components from Trenton
in  Pictou  County.  Today,  as  shown  in this  mid-afternoon  view,  the  Hub truck and
the  Blade 3  truck  have  arrived  at  the  South Canoe  site,  and  the  Nacelle truck  is
approaching on the  New Russel Road.   The  Blade 1  and  Blade 2  trucks  arrived here
earlier  today,  have  been  unloaded,  and  have  departed  to  return  to  their  home  base.
All five components of the first turbine have now arrived at the South Canoe Wind Project site.

of  tower  components from Trenton, Pictou County.  However, there was no activity shown
on the  GPS   display.   All   day,   it   looked   like   this.   The  only  truck  shown was
Tower Section 1, and it never moved – stopped here all day, beside the Elmsdale
Road  (Highway 214)  at  Elmsdale,  in  East  Hants  Municipality.

on  the   GPS   display.   All  day,   it  looked  like  this.   The  only   truck  shown  was
Tower Section 1, and it never moved – stopped here all day, beside the Elmsdale

of tower components from Trenton, Pictou County.  However, there was no activity shown on the
GPS  display.   This  inactivity  continued – as  shown here at  mid-morning  today, October 8.
The only truck shown at this time was Tower Section 1, and it never moved – stopped here
beside the  Elmsdale Road  (Highway 214)  at  Elmsdale,  in  East Hants Municipality.

Today, Thursday, October 9, is the second day scheduled for delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm of
turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These turbine components
are coming  from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near  Liverpool).   Today,  a  convoy  of  five  trucks is
scheduled to  deliver  to  South Canoe  the components  for  the  second  turbine.  This morning view
shows the  first  four  of these  trucks on their way.  Blade Truck 1  is  leading  the  way, now driving
eastward along  New Russell Road  approaching the  South Canoe Wind Project.  Blade Truck 2
is next, now driving northward along Highway 12 approaching New Ross.  The Nacelle Truck is
next, now driving eastward on  Highway 103  approaching  Chester Basin.  Blade Truck 3 is
following the Nacelle Truck eastward on Highway 103.  The Hub Truck is still in Brooklyn
and does not appear in this view.  The Tower Section 1 Truck, not involved in today's
delivery  schedule,  is shown  parked  in the  vicinity  of the Trenton factory.

are coming  from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool).  Today,  the  Nacelle truck, supported
on  136 tires,  is  on  its  way  from  Brooklyn  carrying  the  second  turbine  nacelle  to  South Canoe.
This  view  shows  the  heavily-loaded  Nacelle truck  just  after  it  crossed  the  high bridge over the
Gold  River,   closely   followed   by   Blade  Truck 3.   They  are   approaching   the  Chester Basin
interchange where they will exit Highway 103 eastbound and turn onto Highway 12 northbound.

Today, Thursday, October 9, is the second day scheduled for delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm of
turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These turbine components
are coming  from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool).  Today,  the  Nacelle truck, supported
on  136 tires,  is  on  its  way  from  Brooklyn  carrying  the  second  turbine  nacelle  to  South Canoe.
This view shows the  heavily-loaded  Nacelle truck, having completed the turn at Chester Basin from
eastbound on  Highway 103  to northbound on  Highway 12,  accelerating to highway speed.  Blade
Truck 3,  closely  following  the  Nacelle  truck,  is  stopped  (displayed  as  a  due  north  heading)
momentarily, waiting for the heavy Nacelle truck to get up to speed on a significant uphill grade.

Today, Thursday, October 9, is the second day scheduled for delivery to the South Canoe Wind Farm of
turbine components – nacelle, hub, and three blades, five truckloads in all.  These turbine components
are coming  from  Brooklyn  in  Queens County  (near Liverpool).  Today,  the  Nacelle truck, supported
on  136 tires,  is  on  its  way  from  Brooklyn  carrying  the  second  turbine  nacelle  to  South Canoe.
This view shows the Nacelle and Hub Trucks and Blade Trucks 1 and 2.  Blade Truck 3 is included in
this convoy, but its display has been  supressed  in this view because it is very close to the Nacelle
Truck and its  icon  obscures  the Nacelle Truck's icon.   Here the  Hub Truck,  the last truck in this
convoy, is driving  on  the  Wood Hauling Road,  about  600m  to go before it reaches Highway 3.
Blade Trucks 1 and 2  are  stopped  (displayed  as a  due  north  heading)  at  the  destination at
South Canoe, and are being unloaded.  The Nacelle Truck is driving northward on Highway 12.
